SITOLUB is developing next-generation lubricant evaluation models to address critical industry needs for safer, more functional, and sustainable products. By leveraging innovative data augmentation techniques, the project is enhancing existing datasets and experimental results. Integration with the i-TRIBOMAT test bed will ensure comprehensive validation and facilitate faster adoption of these advanced models by the market.
Evaluation of the sustainability dimension of the safe and sustainable by design framework for lubricants
Assess the holistic sustainability (environmental, economic and social) of lubricant components and formulations across their full life cycle using LCSA
Support comparison of novel candidates with existing technologies
Identifying potential hotspots and trade-offs in line with the SSbD framework already on formulation level
Suitable to predict environmental impacts for product carbon footprint calculations for additives or fully formulated lubricants (ISO14067)
Environmental life cycle assessment: ISO-14040/44-compliant model evaluating the environmental sustainability of the lubricant formulation in terms of toxicity, climate impacts, pollution and resource depletion using ecoinvent 3.12 inspired by the SSbD recommendation, UEIL/ATEIL and API methods. The model is using generic life cycle scenarios to predict the whole life cycle of the lubricant.
Life cycle costing: cost calculation over the whole life cycle of a lubricant product from cradle-to-grave, incorporating costs of externalities resulting from environmental impacts
Social life cycle assessment: Model to pinpoint hotspots in international lubricant supply chains through soca v3.12
