Purpose

  • Evaluation of the sustainability dimension of the safe and sustainable by design framework for lubricants

Described Model

  • Environmental life cycle assessment: ISO-14040/44-compliant model evaluating the environmental sustainability of the lubricant formulation in terms of toxicity, climate impacts, pollution and resource depletion using ecoinvent 3.12 inspired by the SSbD recommendation, UEIL/ATEIL and API methods. The model is using generic life cycle scenarios to predict the whole life cycle of the lubricant.

  • Life cycle costing: cost calculation over the whole life cycle of a lubricant product from cradle-to-grave, incorporating costs of externalities resulting from environmental impacts

  • Social life cycle assessment: Model to pinpoint hotspots in international lubricant supply chains through soca v3.12
