Advancing Lubricant Modelling - SiToLub at the Nordic Rheology Conference 2026
From August 26 to 28, 2026, the SiToLub project was proudly represented by Shreyas Jalikop from AC2T research GmbH at the joint 35th Nordic Rheology Conference (NRC) and 14th International Conference on Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials (MTDM) in Lund, Sweden.
About the Conference
Hosted at The Loop in Science Village, strategically located between the advanced X-ray synchrotron MAX IV and the neutron facility ESS, the joint conference brought together leading researchers and industry professionals. The scientific scope covered all aspects of rheology and the mechanics of time-dependent materials, with applications spanning polymers, coatings, and pharmaceuticals. A special thematic focus this year was the combination of rheology with advanced X-ray and neutron techniques.
SITOLUB Contribution
During the conference, Shreyas Jalikop delivered an oral presentation highlighting crucial work on understanding and modelling lubricant behaviour. This research serves as a foundational pillar for the SiToLub digital platform, which integrates computational models and experimental data to assess lubricant performance comprehensively, from the molecular scale all the way to real-world tribological applications.
Key takeaways and presentations
The three-day event provided valuable insights into advanced rheological characterization techniques that will further strengthen the SiToLub modelling framework. Learning about the advanced X-ray capabilities at MAX IV opened new discussions on how to better investigate polymer additive behaviour in lubricants to drive optimization.
Beyond the technical sessions, an industry-academia workshop fostered highly productive discussions on improving knowledge transfer and accelerating the translation of project results into industrial applications.
The event concluded with excellent networking opportunities, including the NRS Golf Championships, allowing participants to build stronger ties within the European rheology community.
