Bridging Borders for Sustainable Innovation in Punjab
Last month, the SITOLUB project took center stage in Brussels, reinforcing our commitment to the future of safe and sustainable lubricants. On March 20, 2026, our Project Coordinator, Pagano Francesco (Tekniker), and Sustainability Work Package Leader, Dr. Jonas Hoffmann (GreenDelta GmbH), represented our consortium at a pivotal networking event.
The session, titled “Industrial Transformation – Safe and Sustainable by Design (#SSbD): Networking of Horizon Europe Projects,” was organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research & Innovation (DG RTD).
Bridging research & industry
The networking event served as a high-impact follow-up to the 6th SSbD Stakeholder Conference. It brought together the “who’s who” of European innovation—policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders—all focused on one goal: accelerating the transition to a greener industrial landscape.
During his presentation, Francesco Pagano highlighted how SITOLUB is uniquely positioned to:
Integrate SSbD Frameworks: Applying safety and sustainability criteria at the very earliest stages of lubricant design.
Drive Industrial Uptake: Ensuring that high-level research results don’t just stay in the lab but reach the factories and engines where they are needed most.
Foster Collaboration: Identifying synergies with sister projects to create a unified front for sustainable chemical innovation.
Strengthening the ecosystem
One of the highlights was the exchange with other Horizon Europe projects. By sharing different perspectives and methodologies, we are collectively building a more robust roadmap for the implementation of SSbD principles across various sectors.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to the JRC (Joint Research Centre) and DG RTD for hosting such a dynamic and productive exchange. This event was a vital step in ensuring SITOLUB remains at the cutting edge of EU environmental policy and industrial transformation.
